I'm from Subotica. A city boy, but all around that city is a rich farmland, and farmhouses ('salaši') can be found everywhere. Since even my strongest zoom lens can't reach that far, I recreated a small salaš here. Both of the figures are actually clay bells, 'dressed' in a typical farmer style clothes from old times. Behind them is a straw made picture of a small farmhouse and a draw well. Straw made artwork is very popular in my area, and a few years ago I went to one of the most famous straw artisan to get a whole bunch of small artworks I could use as gifts and for home.

Technical details: Soft box lighting from the left (it is big enough to engulf the whole pic). A circular polarizer was used to minimize reflections from the glass. I didn't want to take the picture out of its frame, so polarizer helped getting rid of most of those ugly glares. Both figures are standing on a piece of leather to provide smooth transition into the picture behind. She is turned sideways just enough to allow her headscarf to show and separate her face from straw behind. Shadow is not hiding anything, just giving a proper dimensionality to the scene.
