#29 Gray Wolves

#29 Gray Wolves

Wolves never topped my list of favorite animals. I never had anything against them, but they just never inspired me. Until today. I visited Woodland ZOO, and saw these majestic creatures running on 'their' hill. I always loved to go to the ZOO. My home town always had one of the best in the country, and later when I moved around the planet, I usually visited local zoos, but I have never seen wolves like these. Big, proud, and beautiful.
For more info about them, check out http://woodlandparkzblog.blogspot.com/2011/11/saving-washington-wolves.html

To repeat a shot like this, visit the zoo on an overcast day (chancy thing in Seattle), bring a good long lens (I used my 70-200mm/2.8), watch the animals behavior for a few minutes, and set an ambush on a good place. Most of the animals in captive will either sleep or repeat a pattern while running around. These wolves have a small hill for themselves, so finding a good spot where you see a top of the hill where they will appear, with all settings prepared for conditions, will give you a high chance of getting a nice shot.
