If you are a photographer that got hold of one of these mini-hives, and set it up against the setting sun to have it nicely backlit, the only problem left would be to find a bee (or some cousin similar enough), willing to act as a host. Now having a bee or thousand is not a problem for above mentioned beekeeper, but a poor photographer doesn't have boxes of them in his backyard, only a few flowers left after his favorite mother in law redesigned our gardens. There is an old photographers trick of catching an insect, keeping it in the fridge until it slows down enough to be ready to act. Problem is that a beekeeper in question has a side gig as a Seafair pirate and would certainly use his long wicked blade on me if I even think of doing anything remotely dangerous to his precious black & yellow workers. Photographer tried to leave the honeycomb by flowers hoping bees would notice it, but there was only one bee photogenic enough to do the job, and it was not interested in this gig at all, no matter what arguments he used. Some more nudging was needed. An empty plastic container and a paper towel to close it were good enough to capture the bee gently and let it go in front of the set. After a few tries, bee finally got the message and posed for a while, left and came again. We tried a few poses, and agreed that going into the honey-home was the best one to use.
