What would you miss?

What would you miss?

A few days ago I heard on the radio (NPR) about a lime, avocado and bacon shortage. This wouldn't be a big issue, except for the seriousness and remedy of the situation. After almost a quarter of the century in this country, surprisingly, some of the cultural differences can still surprise me.
  1. Lime. I do not think we even have a word for the lime in Serbian. Even lemon doesn't grow in my area, and I thought that a lime was just a green, unripe, lemon. So if there is a shortage of lime, I wouldn't exactly notice it too much. Guys on the radio were of different opinion. It was a major disaster, and one airline had to take lime from their drink menus. Price of Margaritas went up, and even thinking of a lemon as a possible replacement is counted as an insult.
OK, fine! Suffer for all I care. Really a 1st world problem.
  2. Avocado. I like it, and use it every once in a while. I like guacamole as well, but since I'm not Mexican, if suddenly my diet goes avocado-free, I wouldn't exactly fall in despair and look for a gun with at least one bullet. Same as Lime, it wasn't something I grew up with, so why should I care?
  3. Bacon? WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHORTAGE? Do not tell me I'd have to go bacon free. Even my doctor wouldn't dare suggest such a thing. How can it ever be a bacon shortage without a pork shortage at the same time? Pigs went on hunger strike? Or maybe there is a pork shortage but only pork product they know of is a bacon?
To add insult to the injury, these guys started talking about possible replacements for a bacon. #1 was chips. Yes, a potato chip. In their heads, if it is greasy and crispy, it is same as bacon.

I used to like NPR and their news coverage. I even gave some of my charity $$ to them, but when they tell me to replace bacon with a potato, I can't stay quiet. Literally. I was yelling at the radio, but that didn't have much effect, so I decided to share my opinion with others in my style - by taking a picture and talk about it.

Could you live without these 3?
